Aggressive and friendly play marks Hsinchu golf tourney

The 5th annual Hotel Royal Hsinchu Golf Tournament, jointly sponsored by United Airlines and Lexus Automobiles, played out May 22 in Hsinchu with more than 60 players from TSMC, UMC, Kingston Technology, Hitachi Hi-tech, Topco, Sandisk, DPTT and other leading local manufacturers vying on the links.

The tournament was played using the Peoria system of scoring and Chien Cheng-chung of TSMC emerged as the top player on strokes while Hsuan Ming-chih of UMC was awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy. Chien took home a round trip air ticket between Taipei and Tokyo, a prize contributed by United Airlines.

The tournament was marked by a high degree of fierce competition as well as friendly play throughout, with each participant striving for the lowest possible score while enjoying the companionship of others from Taiwan¡¦s high-tech industries. They also were able to kick back and relax in the lush surroundings of Guanxi Golf Course after the conclusion of play.

James Chen, General Manager of the Hotel Royal Hsinchu, expressed his thanks to each of the participants for taking the time to play in the tournament. He congratulated the various winners and invited everyone to come back again next year for the next tournament. This year¡¦s 5th version of the Hotel Royal Hsinchu Golf Tournament was a rousing success thanks to the enthusiastic support of the local high-tech manufacturing community, and organizers are looking forward to an even more exciting tournament the next time around.
